Well, it's not like I want you to, anyway? If you're talking about bills or whatever.

[This is like when you ask a friend to go out to eat and they go 'but I have no money' or something!]

If you really want to think about it that way, your presence is the contribution! I'll feel way more positive about everything if I'm not coming home to total emptiness every day.

But I should-- cause that's...my presence can't be just contribution.

Yeah, they do. The ones who want to be caught come out and challenge you to a battle, more or less.

What? No, you won't-- you'll battle it with another Pokemon.

I’d rather just feed them but, you know best. Some of them are so small and harmless looking …

[Speaking of food, she has to get some stuff out of the oven, wielding her own floral print mitts.]

Even harmless Pokemon can defend themselves. Don't underestimate them. And like I said, they won't approach unless they're curious, and more open to being caught.

[A small 'hm' goes here, because that still seems odd, but every world has its customs and expectations so it isn't her place to judge. If the most important thing was to be gentle, then she could always do that much.]

If anything, this just proves I can't navigate this world without your help. So, that, on top of chores and protecting the home base, that should be enough, right?

[he really isn't sure if that's...enough. that isn't really a whole lot from his perspective, and really, when he does make money it's absolutely going to Nariko whether she likes it or not]

[And as they've already determined- she's the type to always get what she wants, so it works out! Most of the sides are done, and she begins looking for plates, full, savory scents wafting through the room.]

Which one do you think would suit me? Can we go after we eat?

[he'd been so mesmorized by the gentle motions of cooking, and the conversation, that it's like a miracle that everything's finally done. like magic]

Something strong, but gentle. And enjoys cuddling. Maybe a dragon type...or water. We can go after we eat if you want.

[Trying to figure out a main dish in a world that lacked traditional animals just like her own wasn't impossible, but it'd been a little challenging! Still, she's a good cook even with a severe handicap.]

There's a restaurant near my hotel that's got an opening for a junior chef.

I've just never had a job before soooo!

Yeah, but I didn't need the money, and if I ever did a bad job or failed it wouldn't have bothered anything.

[She tastes room for improvement in her own cooking, sighing around a spoonful before:]

If I'm going to stay here then I have to make money the normal way, which means I have to, like, try. There's no inheritance to save my ass. I'll produce enough currency to get us into the apartment and set up for two months but after that, I'll be doing it the good old-fashioned way!

[he gets that. it's hard, making money on your own. starting over when you started from, well, something.]
